Last Friday we became official Dental Ambassadors as part of nationwide program kicked off in Greensboro and six other cities by Crest and Oral-B. We were surprised, and a little embarrassed to learn that Greensboro was identified as one of 14 cities in the US with the worst teeth in a list issued by totalbeauty.com.  Representatives from Crest and Oral-B visited six of these cities, including Greensboro to select six residents to participate in the Better Check-Ups. During our meeting we learned their goal is to give the mouths of America a makeover after finding that 90 percent of adults over age 40 have tooth decay.

The Better Check-Ups program challenges people across the country to

improve their oral care

in 2010.  The program encourages participants to have a check up with their dentist and start using the full line-up of Crest Pro-Health products including Crest Pro-Health Paste, Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Rinse, Crest Glide Deep Clean Floss and Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Brush.

After using the products for six months, Crest and Oral-B are confident that participants and their dentists will see an improvement in the participants’ oral health. If improvement in oral health is not observed in 6 months, the patient could be eligible to receive a check for $45 to cover the cost of their check up.

To participate, patients can download the assessment form at www.crestprohealth.com.  They will need to purchase the products used for the challenge (and we have many free samples available to you!) You can’t lose – clinical studies have shown these products to be highly effective in reducing plaque and gingivitis.  And if your oral health doesn’t improve, Crest and Oral-B will pay for the check up! The reason we chose to become Dental Ambassadors for this program is quite simple. Our favorite part of dentistry is seeing the improvement in our patients’ oral health when they take responsibility for their own preventive care in between checkups and brush on a consistent basis, with good products.  We believe that if we can encourage our patients and their family and friends to take this challenge, we can move Greensboro from a city with the worst teeth in the US to the city with the brightest smiles in the nation!
