Dental Continuing Education
Discus Dental Extravaganza – Las Vegas
Wow! Sometimes what happens in Vegas DOESN’T stay in Vegas…and that’s exactly what we wanted. The team and I just returned from the Discus Dental Extravaganza, one of the most influential dental continuing education events offered. The conference featured Tom Brokaw as the keynote speaker, and the event-wide speakers included Marcus Allen, former football player and CBS game analysis, Fred Joyal, CEO of 1-800-DENTIST, Dr. Bill Dorfman, Extreme Makeover dentist, Steven J. Anderson, and me! I was honored to be among this elite group and spoke directly after Tom Brokaw for two hours s to a group of over 800 presenting “Inspire Before You Expire: Practice Leadership.” I’m humbled to mention that the feedback from my session was extremely positive and I’m very pleased to have had this opportunity to share key principles of inspirational leadership with dentists and their teams from around the world. I was also very proud that our own Tina Calloway, CDA, led a session for for dental assistants on the first day – “Keeping the Flame Alive: Change the Direction of your Career with Creative Thinking.” Thanks to all her hard work, excellent speaking skills and professional knowledge, Tina is now recognized across the dental industry as a leader in continuing education for dental teams.
Our whole group made good use of their time at the event as well. And don’t worry--while they were there ostensibly to attend informative classes, network with professional peers and learn how they can do an even better job of taking care of our patients--they did find time for some sightseeing, shopping and well, Vegas! I took everyone to the Cirque du Soleil show, the Beatles’ Love which we all LOVED! We work hard every year to make this trip a reality, and I am always reaffirmed in my believe in the wisdom of investing in continuing education for all of us. The new energy, exciting changes and the adoption of new knowledge into the practice inevitably ups our game and results in compliments from our patients who benefit from what we have learned.
We took some great photos and I’d like to share them as part of this week’s blog. More information about this popular dental conference is available by visiting http://www.discusdental.com/lasvegasextravaganza/pages/.
See what our patients are saying about us.
