Tooth-colored Fillings

Our office specializes in metal-free dentistry, allowing us to give you natural looking and safe fillings. Old-fashioned amalgam fillings are extremely noticeable and pose several health risks, including mercury exposure as the material is used in some metal fillings. New tooth colored fillings are safe, durable, and are virtually undetectable, making those around you think you've always had a flawless set of teeth.

TMJ Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a source of pain and discomfort for many individuals. This remarkably complex joint is the point where the skull and the jawbone meet. Some people complain of clicking, popping, and locking at the joint. This can sometimes result in headaches, neck pain, earaches, and other forms of facial pain associated with TMJ disorders. At our Greensboro office, we provide effective TMJ treatment to relieve discomfort. We often take conservative approaches to successfully alleviate the TMJ-associated problems you may have.

TMJ disorder is incredibly common. In the United States alone, over 10 million people suffer from a TMJ disorder. Causes of TMJ disorder can include wear and tear of cartilage surrounding the TMJ, a dislocation of the joint, habitual clenching or grinding of the teeth, arthritis, or a misaligned bite. At our practice, TMJ treatment begins with a careful analysis of the causes of your pain. Only then can TMJ be successfully treated. Thankfully, our dental professionals are well equipped to diagnose and treat TMJ disorder and relieve the condition's painful symptoms. If you believe you may be suffering from TMJ disorder, and are seeking a thorough diagnosis and, if necessary, TMJ treatment, contact our practice serving Greensboro, NC.

Sedation Dentistry

In order to reduce anxiety and discomfort, our office offers safe and effective sedation techniques. We can use nitrous oxide to help keep you relaxed, or for more involved treatments, we use a sedative pill to ensure you do not feel any pain during a procedure. Your comfort is our first priority.

If you feel anxiety at the thought of receiving dental treatment, sedation dentistry can help you receive the care you need. Dental anxiety is incredibly common and unfortunately, can sometimes lead to the avoidance of dental care. Individuals with dental anxiety may wait until they experience severe dental pain before visiting the dentist. It is our goal to put you at ease. Through sedation dentistry, the professionals at our Greensboro practice will help you enjoy dental health, without experiencing anxiety.

Diagnostic Treatment

Digital Radiography

Though traditional x-rays involve an extremely small amount of radiation, new digital radiographs limit that exposure by 90 percent. Once taken, the digital radiographs are instantaneously transmitted onto a computer monitor for both you and Dr. Hyman to examine. Now both you and Dr. Hyman can discuss any dental work that needs to be performed, easing any anxiety you may have experienced in the past.

Intraoral Cameras

The tiny, safe, non-invasive intraoral camera is a remarkable diagnostic tool that allows us to easily capture images of the inside of your mouth. The intraoral camera is inserted into your mouth and a picture is taken. The image is then immediately displayed on a computer monitor. Like digital x-rays, you and your dentist are able to discuss any dental work that needs to be performed.

DIAGNOdent®

DIAGNOdent® is a breakthrough diagnostic tool used for cavity detection. With a harmless laser, we are able to quickly and efficiently scan your teeth and identify cavities and potential cavities. DIAGNOdent® helps us detect possible problems early on.

Other Treatments

Bonding

Tooth bonding is a simple, effective way to mask minor chips, cracks, and stains on your teeth. During the procedure, a custom-made, tooth-colored material is applied and bonded to the tooth, reinforcing the tooth structure. When the procedure is completed, the treated tooth will be virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth and your smile will look as good as new.

Non-surgical Periodontal Care

Maintaining healthy gums is an important part of achieving optimal dental health. Apart from causing bad breath and red, swollen, or bleeding gums, gum disease can lead to tooth loss and a variety of other health problems. If we can detect and treat gum disease early on, we can maintain the appearance of your smile and ensure the continued health of your mouth.

Dental Bridges

Gaps between teeth can cause a number of problems including bite strain, speech impediments, or tooth misalignment. Natural looking bridges are an excellent cosmetic dentistry solution to remedy problems associated with missing teeth. Bridges effectively fill the gaps between teeth.

Snore Appliances for Sleep Apnea

Snoring is usually harmless with the exception of possibly strained relationships. However, for some people, snoring is an indication that a more serious condition is present -- sleep apnea. Sleep apnea involves the repetitive blockage during sleep of the airway we use to breath. This can cause a sleep apnea sufferer to awake from deep sleep many times a night, a fact the individual is usually not aware of. Sleep apnea has wide-ranging health effects. Thankfully, oral appliances can successfully open the airway and relieve the symptoms of sleep apnea. Many who snore but don't have sleep apnea also choose to seek treatment in order to help their sleeping partner rest more peacefully.

Metal-free Removable Partial Dentures

With metal-free partial dentures developed by Valplast®, you can now enjoy a more naturally looking and feeling dental prosthetic. Metal-free partial dentures do not have visible metal claps, instead opting for a more natural looking plastic colored to match the inside of the mouth. This material also bends with the natural movement of your mouth for a more natural feel. Add to this the additional strength and light weight of metal-free removal dentures and the results are simply amazing.
